Congratulations to our client winner at the 2016 Benefits Canada Workplace Benefits Awards

We are pleased to congratulate our client, EPCOR Utilities of Edmonton, winner at the 2016 Benefits Canada Workplace Benefits Awards held a few weeks ago in Toronto. EPCOR earned the award in the absence management category. Presented by Benefits Canada magazine, the annual Workplace Benefits Awards honour the success and achievements of exceptional Canadian plan sponsors and individuals in the area of employee benefits.

The honour EPCOR received goes to an organization that has developed best practices in absence management processes for the benefit of its employees. Through a partnership with Morneau Shepell, EPCOR Utilities’ efforts have focused on returning absent employees to work as soon as they are able by providing them with the mental and/or physical support they need, as well as helping to limit absence by enabling employees to develop good coping skills and better, overall wellness. This approach has resulted in a marked decrease in disability absence duration at the organization.

This makes it four years in a row, since the inauguration of the award in the Absence Management category in 2013, that a client of Morneau Shepell has earned the top prize. In 2013, Staples Canada won the award. Rogers Communications took home the award in 2014 and the 2015 award for absence management went to PepsiCo Canada.
