CFLPA and Morneau Shepell partner to provide LifeWorks, total well-being platform, for CFL players

CALGARY, November 22, 2019 – The Canadian Football League Players’ Association (CFLPA) and Morneau Shepell, the leading provider of technology-enabled HR services, today announced a partnership to launch LifeWorks for CFL players. Morneau Shepell’s LifeWorks platform is a total well-being solution that supports its users to achieve mental, physical, social and financial well-being.

CFLPA Executive Director, Brian Ramsay said, “Whole-player health and well-being means providing CFL players the tools they need to address their physical, mental and emotional wellness – while they’re playing and as they transition from the game. The CFLPA is excited to deliver this program to players alongside Morneau Shepell, a leading global partner in the workplace well-being space.”

Morneau Shepell’s LifeWorks platform is a complete and convenient online program for CFL players and their families. Provided as part of the CFLPA Academy, which already offers a number of career transition programs including job training and financial literacy, players now have access to enhanced mental health and wellness services for up to three years after their final playing contract.

Norah Joyce, Chief Commercial Officer, Canada and Executive Vice President, Morneau Shepell said, “We are pleased to work closely with the CFLPA to ensure the players are supported on and off the field. We’re confident that the LifeWorks platform can help tackle the genuine challenges of professional football players by providing a total well-being solution.”

The platform provides several benefits including confidential wellness assessments, and resources that include helpful videos, live chats and overall wellness support and assistance. Players’ spouses and dependants will also have access to the full platform, and the CFLPA will begin to recruit “player champions” to make it easy for all CFL players understand and use the platform.
