Morneau Shepell wins award for substantial job creation in Quebec

Morneau Shepell recognized as strong contributor to economic growth in Quebec

MONTREAL, Oct. 5, 2017 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell (TSX: MSI) has been awarded with the Quebec job creation award in the champion category for the Montreal area. This is the first edition of the Quebec job creation award, which will be held annually by the Conseil du patronat du Québec (CPQ), the largest employers group in Quebec. Winners were announced at the award ceremony and gala in Quebec City on October 4, 2017.

Last night's gala brought more than 800 business leaders, entrepreneurs, managers and government representatives to celebrate the champions in job creation and economic growth across the province. The attendees celebrated the efforts and initiatives of companies contributing to labour creation, sustainability and growth of quality jobs in Quebec.

"At Morneau Shepell, we are dedicated to building a sustainable economy – by both creating job opportunities and equipping organizations with the right resources to foster a healthy work environment," said Julien Ponce, executive vice president for eastern Canada and national leader of the consulting practice, Morneau Shepell. "We are honoured to be recognized as one of the leading employers in Quebec, and we will continue to dedicate our efforts to creating new jobs for people across the province."

The award ceremony recognized organizations across each region of Quebec for their contribution to the province's economy. In Quebec, Morneau Shepell has grown from 100 employees in 1997 to more than 1,500 in 2017. The Company was recognized alongside 16 organizations in each region across Quebec in the champion category, which honours the remarkable performance of a company in the region according to the number of jobs created or maintained.

CPQ developed the job creation award in partnership with Fondaction (an organization that helps Quebecers prepare for retirement), the Quebec Industrial Park Corporation, the Union des municipalités du Québec (an organization that represents all municipalities in Quebec) and the Government of Quebec, among other partners.
