TORONTO, April 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell (TSX: MSI), Canada's leading provider of employee and family assistance programs, has been honoured with the "Innovative Practices Award" by the COA for its Fitness Coach Connects program.

The program was recognized for combining physical activity, coaching and digital tools to support optimal employee health and productivity. The Innovative Practices Award is presented by the COA to organizations that demonstrate the application of new and forward-looking practices.

"We are very grateful to be recognized by the Council on Accreditation," said Barb Veder, Vice-President, Clinical Services and Research Team Lead with Morneau Shepell. "We are finding that more people than ever are looking for digital solutions to accommodate their fast paced, on-the-go lifestyles and Fitness Coach Connects offers just that. The program assists users in improving both their physical health and mental health, while positively impacting personal and work performance."

Morneau Shepell's Fitness Coach Connects consists of an online program, a wireless activity tracker (digital pedometer), and three scheduled sessions with a fitness coach. Fitness Coach Connects combines monitoring, 24/7 online support and real-time feedback to help users meet their fitness goals.
