Morneau Shepell's Consulting Partner Claudine Ducharme Recognized as an Influential Businesswoman

Premières en Affaires magazine honours exceptional female business leaders

TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - Morneau Shepell is pleased to announce that Claudine Ducharme, Health and Benefits Consulting partner for eastern Canada, has been named one of eight influential businesswomen in Quebec by Premières en Affaires business magazine.

The magazine recognizes eight women business leaders or "Incontournables" that stand out in their field. Ducharme was selected by an advisory committee composed of influential business personalities. The award, which recognizes Ducharme's exceptional work in employee workplace health, will be given out at an evening gala event held on November 28 in Montreal that brings together over 300 business leaders.

"It's a great honour to receive such recognition from Premières en Affaires magazine and the business community at large," said Ducharme. "I am very humbled to be recognized by my peers and to be in the same company as these exceptional women."

"I am delighted to see that Claudine is being recognized as an outstanding businesswoman," said Alan Torrie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Morneau Shepell. "The award is a testament to Claudine's exceptional contribution to the field of workplace health across Canada and is being celebrated by her colleagues at Morneau Shepell across the country."

Ducharme helps Morneau Shepell clients develop and implement organizational health programs such as disability management, return to work and workplace wellness. She also coaches HR professionals on comprehensive health management that encompasses human capital management, mental health prevention, work/life balance, and the prevention of organizational risk factors.

Outside of her work at Morneau Shepell, Ducharme has played an instrumental role in developing the workplace Healthy Enterprise standard for the Bureau de Normalisation du Québec (BNQ). She is a member of BNQ's Auditor Qualification Committee, and was recently asked to join the Technical Committee to develop a new and innovative national standard for psychological health and safety in the workplace. She also authored the Audit Protocol Workplace Health Promotion and Wellness for a Healthy Organization. The protocol was used to develop the Healthy Enterprise standard, and help organizations implement employee health and wellness programs.

This award also compliments Ducharme's Benefits Canada lifetime achievement award she received in 2012, which recognized Claudine's more than 30 years' experience in occupational health management, including prevention and health promotion in the workplace.
