New Online Access from Morneau Shepell Removes Barriers of Accessing Support

Provides users with ability to choose their EAP support service based on needs and lifestyle

TORONTO, Dec. 12, 2011 /CNW/ - For those dealing with issues related to their work, health or life, it can often be daunting to make that first call for help. Morneau Shepell Ltd. is making it easier with Online Access. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Shepell•fgi brand has launched a new service where users can now confidentially identify their concerns online, learn about suggested EAP support services and choose both the service and how it will be delivered that best suits their needs, lifestyle and learning preference.

"With approximately 80% of Canadians actively online, we're proud to present an important new way to access EAP services," says Barb Veder, Clinical Director, Shepell•fgi. "Online Access makes it easier for those who perhaps are hesitant to call in and ask for help."

Available through Shepell•fgi's workhealthlife.com site, Online Access allows users to learn more about  EAP services and allows them to request help on a range of issues including health, family, work, financial, relationship and legal support available to them and their families. With just a few clicks, the EAP support service request is initiated and completed without the need to speak with a representative.

Online Access also assists in identifying emergency issues and immediately and confidentially redirects users to Shepell•fgi's Care Access Centre for prompt support. Manager-accessed services and training remain available offline.

"Our goal is to make EAP support as accessible as possible, and so we are using technology to adapt to how Canadians are currently accessing information and seeking help and advice with day-to-day issues and challenges," explains Rita Fridella, Senior Vice-President, Operations and Chief Clinician, Shepell•fgi.

Online Access is part of the digital suite of innovative products offered by the company, including the My EAP smart phone app; Online Stress Management Program; Video Counselling; and First Chat, an online consultative chat service.
